I was greatly inspired by the artist James DeRosso and his monster creations. I liked the features on his pieces and the outlandish style he uses, making them look like their own, silly, little, creatures. I wanted to make masks so I decided to make them look like they were actual monsters that could be alive in some crazy universe. Fun fact: James actually came to my fifth grade class room and he taught us how to make clay monsters. He was a really nice guy.
I was also going through google images and found that almost all of the ceramic slices of pizza people have made are thicker and mostly painted on. I decided to make one look as real as possible and make it thin and have actual pepperoni circles protruding from it. This artist decided to make the pizza slice more thick.
I had a fun time doing a series that idealizes popular american foods, or stereotypical american foods. I decided to make a hot dog after browsing through some images and stumbling upon this piece by an unknown creator.
I saw these perk a cola machines online and on YouTube. A very talented artist has made painstakingly accurate recreations of these machines. I was inspired by these and decided to make my own perk a cola machines out of clay, though I am not nearly as talented they still turned out well.
We experimented with small slabs of clay and made textures in them. Then we used different glazes and this is how mine turned out.
